In 2004,

A mom and pop decided to make soaps for their family as their Christmas gifts. The family thought they were so well made that they should start a business doing this very thing.

Having a kitchen and garage as a headquarters, they made that thought into a reality and became Fortune Cookie Soap Company. They shipped wholesale orders of soap shaped like fortune cookies to other brands interested in this neatly shaped soap that was also plant based. This gave it the push it needed to grow into a quirky indie soap company that based most of their products off of pop culture; tv shows, movies, fandoms…etc.

In 2013 the subscription boxes started; full of sample sized goodies consistently having a single new product each month. People went crazy over what seems like an unfathomable idea but proven to be possible seeing they were shipping out over 5,000 subscription boxes internationally per quarter. This isn’t even counting the orders they received from their selections offering: mini collections, yearly stock products and create your own events.

During Covid, many would think this company would have slowed at such a rate that bankruptcy was the only choice. It, in fact did the opposite, making the company an essential manufacturer due to its big need of hand sanitizer. Which Fortune Cookie happily supplied. But as anyone who is involved with business knows, there are high seasons and there are low seasons.

Fast forward to 2024 when the company has dwindled in size so much that the demand for product remained too great to keep up with: The company came to a reluctant closing at the end of 2025 only to be bought a few months after its announcement by a new owner in 2026 who is dedicated to continuing the legacy of such a well-kept business and rebranding as two companies under one: Mindful Mirage Scents as well as Lather & Giggle. Still holding the same values; both wonderful, both remaining plant based, both full of care. Mindful Mirage Scents is exactly what its name is, bringing a luxury with the mindfulness of its mirage like scents to capture anyone’s nose. Lather & Giggle is a continuation of the previous company still keeping the Indie pop culture body care everyone who was a faithful family member of Fortune Cookie Soap company remembers.

About Me:

I am a 26-year-old wife and mother who has a mother with sensitive skin and that trait, although not as severe, did pass down to me. So natural is a big thing in my life. Especially with my hair care. I used products from these big manufacturing companies and noticed my hair wasn’t quite reacting the way it should. So, I looked into natural shampoos, natural conditioners and started creating my own and my hair has done nothing but give back the love I have shown to it.

This made me want to get into soap making, because if I can create a product that treats my hair this good, just imagine what I could do for my skin, or my mother’s skin, or other people’s skin! Because we use bigger companies out of convenience despite how it affects our biggest organ, not because it’s what’s best. Next thing I know, my husband stumbles upon this company who cares about the same thing I do; but is sadly closing. A company who is bettering the world one skin at a time doesn’t deserve to close. So, I bought this business to help better others and in return hopefully having a long-lasting business to pass down for generations.
